FLOORING MATERIALS

We at Driscoll have years of experience installing many different species of wood flooring. We install factory finished solid and engineered as well as unfinished solid and engineered wood flooring. For many years now we have built quite a strong reputation with our re-claimed wood flooring clients. We have appeared on several television programs locally as well as internationally on HGTV.

Wood floors come in many types:

  • Solid Wood is a tradition floor that has been used for centuries. It is best used in dry and stable environments above ground level.

  • Engineered Floors are designed for their dimensional stability. Because of this they are ideal for use in a less stable environment. Engineered floors can be nailed down, glued down and floated on top of the sub floor. Because of their stability they are most often the best choice for a wider faced floor.

  • Reclaimed Floors are available in both solid and engineered. They are milled from used timber collected during the demolition of other building like old barns and factories. These boards will be naturally distressed with beautiful patina and make a warn relaxing look to your home or business.

Beyond the wood products we also carry a very good line of both Laminate and Cork flooring.
We carry a line of commercial grade Laminate flooring that is excellent for rooms that are “going to take a beating”.

Laminate is a slat of MDF covered in a photo of real wood that has a very resilient coat of plastic all laminated together.
Generally these floors snap or click together and can be easily removed and repurposed years later.

Cork Flooring is built similar to laminate except the top layer is a thin layer of cork.
These floors also click together and are very comfortable underfoot making them a great choice to install over ceramic tile in work areas like the kitchen.
